FIELD NOTE 02 / RESEARCH & BUSINESS RESILIENCE

A real business.
A high-stakes
decision.

The Outpost’s owner used AI to help research, organize, draft, and prepare for an appeal. The business reopened after a County Commission vote.

OWNER EXPERIENCE / ST. JOHNS COUNTY

Justin Tahilramani owns The Outpost SJC and founded Ancient City AI. This is work in his own business, not an outside client engagement.

When the stakes
leave the screen.

The Outpost is a food truck park in St. Johns County, Florida. In spring 2026, a dispute over how the County’s land-use rules applied to the property interrupted operations. Justin appealed the staff interpretation to the County Commission.

That situation required a clear understanding of the rules and a coherent presentation of the record. Justin reports using AI to help research those rules, organize evidence, draft arguments, and prepare for the hearing.

Background and appeal: St. Johns Citizen, May 5, 2026 ↗. AI’s role: Justin’s firsthand account, confirmed October 29, 2026.

WHAT WE TAKE INTO CLIENT WORK

Make the record
usable.

A business owner can have a compelling position and still face a pile of documents, scattered references, and limited preparation time. This experience informs how we approach research and decision support.

For a real estate or entitlement team, a scoped project could produce a source-linked project chronology, an evidence index, and a briefing draft for the responsible professional to review. The deliverable is a clearer basis for a decision. Approvals and favorable rulings are not something we can promise.

Justin’s role was that of a business owner advocating for his operation. Ancient City AI provides business research and workflow support; legal representation and professional judgments stay with the appropriate licensed professionals.
